Mr. B's Biography

Born and raised in southeastern Michigan, Mr. Bunselmeier started his college education at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with an emphasis in music education from Sonoma State University, and a Master of Music degree from Sacramento State University. During his thirty years as a Music Educator, he has taught all levels of instrumental music from elementary through college. He has served as a clinician and adjudicator for marching competitions and concert festivals for regional and state band organizations throughout California.

At Don Lugo, Mr. Bunselmeier teaches Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band and oversees the colorguard program. While at Don Lugo he has been the musical director for school wide musicals including “Charlie Brown” and “Annie Get Your Gun”. Mr. Bunselmeier started up the Chino Valley USD Honor Band and has been one of its conductors for over ten years.

At various times during his teaching career Mr. Bunselmeier has been known as coach “B” having coached football, boy’s and girl’s basketball, baseball and softball.

As a music advocate, Mr. Bunselmeier is currently President of the Southern California Judging Association. He is a member of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, California Music Educators Association and was a member of the National Association Of Jazz Education (now defunct). In 2002, Mr. Bunselmeier was awarded the Los Angeles Philharmonic “Music Matters” Hero Award.
